It's been a long while... Happy Chinese New Year to all my friends!! I'm babysitting now. So might as well blog while I look at my cute niece.
Exaggerated incident:
Boy 1: He elbowed me. Very painful. My muscle and the bone are in pain. He did it purposely.
Boy 2: I didn't. I don't even know I knocked into him.
At 1.15pm the same day, boy 1's father came angrily to look for me and demanded that I call the other boy's parent to inform them about it and said that he wants to claim from them if his son needs to go to the hospital.
I was so disgusted. How bad can a knock be? I could only appease him by saying I understand where he's coming from. He insisted that it is not the first time that someone hit his son and no teachers did anything. He must be frustrated for a year and I'm the suay one to get it this year. Kids being kids, they often didn't know when they knock onto others. In fact, today a boy just knocked onto me. I really couldn't stand such exaggerated complains of pain. Seriously 小气! How will this boy survive in NS next time? I realized, it's always such people who always complain to us that people are bullying them. @_@ I'm sick of seeing such things day in and day out. Maybe it's better to teach in a neighborhood school. The kids are not pampered. In fact, they need love which I wouldn't mind giving.
Here's a totally different response from another boy:
He ran and fell badly faced down during PE. He was in great pain as he hit his own stomach on the floor. His elbow was bleeding, palms, knees and face was with abrasion. He stood up in great pain and walked to the pavilion to rest on his own, sobbing in pain. At the end of my lesson, he assured me that he was fine. And he went to the general office on his own. I admired his tenacity. Although it's totally different incidents, the tolerance for pain is what I really take heart in.
Maybe that's the difference in a pupil in the top class and one in an average class. Pampered vs rugged. I'm biased to the rugged. :)
